Dictation 1(Ch 3 p.28-29) Part A : Seen Dictation (90%) Global warming means that the air around the Earth is getting hotter. As a result, the ice at the North and South Pole melts. Greenhouse gases are like a blanket around the Earth — they stop heat escaping. Global warming affects all living things. For example, the melting ice makes sea levels rise, causing floods. Other places are suffering from drought because there is too little rainfall. People and animals may die because there isn’t enough food and water. You all need to reduce your carbon footprints. This is the amount of CO2 that you produce when you use transport, electricity, food, clothing and other things. Yes! Every little thing helps! If everybody follows the 3Rs, we can fight global warming.Part B : Unseen Dictation (10%) Part C : Bonus

Dictation 2 (Ch 4 p.40-41) Part A : Seen Dictation (90%) Forests provide clean air, food, and a home for many animals. However, forests are cleared to make way for roads, towns and farms. Many orangutans are losing their homes and starving to death because of forest clearing. When waste is dumped in the sea, it is a big problem for fish and sea animals. Many sea turtles die after they accidentally eat plastic bags floating in the sea. Also, rubbish on beaches can trap their babies and prevent them from reaching the ocean. Millions of animals are killed by hunters every year. Tigers are hunted for their fur and rhinos are hunted for their horns. Elephants are killed for their beautiful long tusks, which are made of ivory. Elephants will become extinct unless we stop buying ivory products.Part B : Unseen Dictation (10%) Part C : Bonus
